Little Monkey-Man

My son has learned to climb. And he is very good at it. I am now unable to leave him alone for even the tiniest of seconds. I walked out of the room to answer the phone yesterday and in the time it took me to say hello, he had managed to get up onto one of the recliners and was standing on facing the back. I about had a stroke! He is now trying to climb on EVERYTHING! He got up onto his table, he was halfway up the changing table, and this morning he tried to shimmy over the baby gate that keeps him from going into the laundry/dog room. And I swear, I do not leave him alone for longer than it takes to go to the bathroom or something else that is quick and simple! He is just so dang fast! Now if I need to do anything that requires me to take my eyes off of him, I have to set him in his crib and do it quickly! I dread the day he figures out how to climb out of the crib. So far, he hasn't even tried that, but I know it's only a matter of time.

My little Oompa Loompa

I had to take a couple of pictures of Brody feeding himself Spaghetti O's. He was hilarious, and the laughter from Mom and Dad only egged him even more! I have a cute video of him also, but I still need to upload it.

Early resolution

I really do love the holidays, but I am definitely not organized enough for them. I did manage to get all my presents bought and wrapped early, but I still have some cards to mail out and my house needs some serious cleaning. Honestly, I hate to clean and will think up almost any excuse to get out of it. It's one thing about myself I hate. I wish I were more of a neat freak and I have gotten better since I had a child, but I can still always find something better to do. I think my resolution this year will be to try and be more organized!

Save me from the Christmas Cookies!

I began making cookies today for the neighbors. I figured Mike, Brody, and I can go around and deliver them this weekend. Well, they are so yummy, I find myself sneaking into the kitchen to have "just one more". I say sneaking because I am too ashamed to let my husband know of my weakness for all things sugary! Well, he knows about my sweet tooth, but I try amd limit how much he gets to see. At the rate I am going, I am going to have to start all over!

Pics of the girls' Program

I wanted to post some pictures of the girls last night, but I didn't feel like uploading them off of my camera. So this morning I overcame my laziness and here are a few of my little sweeties!

Keirsten, Jadyn, and Madyx looking pretty. (And Leeanne making sure Maddy doesn't run away)

I have the cutest nieces!

Tonight I went to my nieces' Chridtmas program. Only two of them were a part of it. Jadyn with the kindergarteners and Keirsten with the pre-schoolers. It was so adorable! Both of them were all dressed up in very pretty shiny dresses which they thought was just awesome! I can't wait until Brody heads off to school and gets to be in the programs! I left him at home tonight because the program didn't start until 7:30 and his bedtime is at 8:00. I did not want to deal with a tired little boy who wants to run wild in the school gym. So he stayed home with dad, who of course let him fall asleep an hour early. I hope he doesn't plan to wake up an hour early tomorrow morning!

I got Mike's cookies all baked for work tomorrow. They turned out very well, if I do say so myself. Yes, I tasted one. I need cookies like I need a hole in the head, but it's the holidays, so calories don't count, right?

It is snowing like crazy outside right now. I want to go get a sled to pull Brody around with. He will love it and it would be great exercise for me. I am hoping Mike will find one tomorrow when he stops at ACE Hardware after work.

Brody had his 15-month check up today. I still can't believe he is already 15 months old! Anyway, he weighed 26lb. 14.3oz and was 33 inches long. He is growing nicely. The pediatrician said he looks wonderful (as if I wasn't already aware of that!). He is getting some dry patches on his face so she told me to put hydrocortisone cream on it. He also had to get 2 shots, which seriously ticked him off. I am so glad Mike was with me, he held Brody while I closed my eyes and held his hand. Shots suck.

Let it snow!

Well, I guess I am already not keeping up with this blog very well. I will not delete it, though! I have a bad habit of deciding to just start over on things when they aren't going the way I think they should. This is true for most things in my life, scrapbooks, home movies, blogs, journals, you name it, I have probably started it over and over again in hopes of making it better than the last time! If I could, I would do the whole first year of Brody's life over again, but that may just be because I miss his baby-ness so much!

It has been so cold around here lately! I can't even take Brody outside to play because of the wind warnings and below 0 temps. It sucks since Brody's absolute favorite thing is to be outdoors running around and exploring. Plus, when I get bored I end up taking him to WalMart or somewhere to eat. This is not a good thing for our bank account, but that is a whole other post! Usually I can take him to the park or we just play out in our yard, but with the yucky weather, there are not many choices. So I am stuck inside with a very active toddler. My house is starting to show the wear and tear of our days of hard playing. Today I am trying really hard to get it clean, but I feel like I am neglecting my kid when I am scrubbing counters and not sitting on the floor throwing a ball or something to him. Never mind the fact that he is great at playing on his own, I still feel guilty and think I should be focusing all of my attention on him while he is awake. Okay, yes right now he is busy pulling his two ride on toys around the living room and I could be finishing up the kitchen but I remembered my resolve to be a better blogger, even though I don't think anyone reads it! lol. Oh, well, it will be something fun to print out for my child(ren) someday.

Mike called and informed me there is a potluck at work tomorrow and he needs me to make something. Nice to give me so much notice, eh? So I am going to make these really yummy peanut butter cookies with a mini reese's in the middle. My mom taught me to make them and everyone who tries them loves them! So Mike will stop at the store on his way home and get the ingredients I don't have in the pantry and I will make them tonight. At least I don't have to drive in the snow/ice. I hate winter driving, and if I am being totally honest with myself, I can say I am not very good at it! Thank goodness I married a Canadian, he's an awesome winter driver!

I am off to make mac & cheese with cut up hot dogs! The lunch of toddlers everywhere! Oh, I included a couple of pictures of Brody that I took recently. Thought if anyone happens along my blog, they can see how he's looking these days!

Playing outside in the snow for the first time. He had a blast! His new hiding place. He hasn't figured out how to climb back out.

Papers, papers everywhere!

I notice as I get older, my filing cabinet is less able to hold all of the documents that are of utmost importance to our way of life. I am in the process of cleaning it out and I am amazed at what has been saved. Do I seriously still need medical statements from 2005? Apparently yes, since my husband had a small stroke when I suggested shredding anything older than 2006. And I thought I was the packrat of the family! Thank goodness for banker boxes!

Brody's new friend

I took Brody for his first real playdate this morning. My parents' neighbors have a little girl who was born on the same day as Brody so her mother and I thought it would be a fun idea to get them together. I learned my son is not as sweet and innocent as I think he is. He kept shoving poor Cailey otu of his way and wouldn't share toys with her. I seriously have to work on his social skills! He also seems to be lagging in the talking department. He's all about grunting and pointing, saying very few words to get his point across. Cailey can say quite a few words (including please and thank you, I'm so jealous!) and wants to share toys and give kisses. I really hope it is because he is a boy and not because he is just destined to become a bully!

Hello Again!

I just can't seem to get into the groove of this blogging thing. I am giving it another chance though. There is something appealing about sharing my thoughts with total strangers. Not that my thoughts are all that exciting, but maybe there are those individuals out there who are as bored as I am and need something to do that doesn't involve diapers or pat-a-cake!
